However, that was nearly the case, according to casting director David Rapaport.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, David explained how he nearly didn’t give the New Zealander the role of a lifetime.
“I passed on him the first time he came in. He didn’t seem prepared.”

After their first initial search for Archie didn’t go as planned, they decided to give KJ a second chance. GOOD THING THEY DID!
“He came back in and his read blew me away,” David said. “Sometimes people have bad days and you miss something.”
