Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was so damn good that the world collectively lost their minds when they announced a holiday special: A Midwinter’s Tale.
And despite how amazing the episode was, the ending has left a bad taste in fans’ mouths. It basically confirmed that Sabrina (Keirnan Shipka) and Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch) were over.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kiernan discusses how crushed she is at the news.
She explains how she was “obviously heartbroken” when she found out. “I’m a Harbrina shipper as much as anyone else, ya know? But it’s heartbreaking, it totally is. I loved them.”
In the episode, Sabrina and Harvey were already in uncertain territory as they’d just broken up. Sabrina tried to give Harvey a peace offering in the form of magical coloured pencils and enchanted eggnog. Harvey doesn’t accept the gifts.
“I think that they’re wonderful and even if they do eventually end up getting back together, nothing will be like Harvey and Sabrina season one,” Kiernan added. “Like, RIP that. Because truly that was such a special, innocent, young love thing and that is a thing of the past. That will never happen again. They’ve both seen too much and done too much at this point.”
But the good news is that they will stay in each other’s lives. She teased, “In the next part of season one, we see [Sabrina and Havey] coming into their own and finding themselves in new ways. In ways that separate them more and bring them back together more — it’s a bit of a back and forth.”
