If there was one death that absolutely destroyed your life in Harry Potter, it was bloody Dobby the free elf.
Ok look, losing Fred, Snape, Sirius, Tonks, Lupin ETC was also harrowing, but DOBBY WAS A FREE ELF.
It just really bloody hurt.
So that’s why, like each year on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, J.K. Rowling has taken to Twitter to apologise.
“It’s that anniversary again. This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn’t die during the #BattleofHogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who’d win it. I refer, of course, to Dobby the house elf.”
Dobby was a real hero of the entire series, down to his last moment when he was killed by Belatrix. Losing him was heartbreaking, but like most deaths in the series, relevant to making one of the best stories of all time.
After her apology, fans took to Twitter to express their love for Dobby.
