Not only do we have our main lead, Ariel (Halle Bailey), but rumours about supporting cast members are popping up as well!

For example, this absolute gem!

Fans of girl band Little Mix are getting behind the idea that Jesy Nelson should be cast as Sebastian the Crab, and it’s originating from this ICONIC impression she once did of a Jamaican accent in 2014.

Fans are absolutely living for this idea.

“Congratulations to Jesy from Little Mix who has been cast as the Jamaican crab Sebastian in The Little Mermaid,” one wrote alongside the above video.

“The RIGHT woman for the job,” wrote another user, while another said, “I would go see that cast in a heartbeat.”

Another fan wrote: “To this day I have no idea what she was trying to say,” referencing THAT viral video.

Other fans shared that sentiment, with one writing, “What was she even tryna say… it still haunts me to this day.”

Turns out Jesy has explained herself before about what the hell she was trying to say/do.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, when Jesy was asked if she found the clip annoying, she replied: “Oh my god, the most! So much. It isn’t my Jamaican accent, it’s annoying.”

She explained: “The fan edited it as though it was my Jamaican accent, I actually do a Jamaican accent! That’s not even a Jamaican accent, they just cut off my accent and said that was my Jamaican accent.”

The ‘word’ Jesy was actually saying was the term ‘bardegne’ – a sound that all Little Mix girls use when they’re feeling ‘stumped’.

“We were filming today and she [Jade] was on the tannoy and she forgot her little script and just went [Jesy does the non-Jamaican accent]!” She added. “We do it all the time but for some reason that bit was hilarious. I’ll never live it down.”

Poor Jesy.
