Yesterday, Disney announced the casting for their live-action remake of Aladdin.
As rumours swirled that Little Mix bae Jade Thirlwall was in the running to play our Princess Jasmine, fans were eagerly awaiting for it to be #confirmed, but, unfortunately for them it wasn’t the case.
Instead, actress Naomi Scott was cast, and fans weren’t happy about it.
They let their feelings out on Twitter.

Disneys dumb thou like ppl would watch rl Aladdin more if Jade was cast as Jasmine smh Disney continues making poor decisions

Their main disproval was because the actress they cast for Jasmine is Indian, not Arab like Jade is.
The movie takes place in the fictional Arabic city of Agrabah, but it was first set in Baghdad, Iraq, making Jade perfect for the role… not to mention her killer PIPES that all Disney princesses require.
Hmm.
That moment when Jade is Arabian, can sing and with a black wig would be perfect BUT Disney casts an Indian actress for Jasmine. #Aladdin

Jade herself even liked a comment by a fan that points out this issue.
The comment read, “Why would they cast an Indian instead of someone who is at least of Arab heritage.”
Ooooh dayum!
We’re pretty sure that Naomi will play an amazing Jasmine, and will bring her to life in a magical way, but we can’t say we’re not disappointed that our girl Jade didn’t get the role.
