After avoiding the spotlight for half a decade, Jack Vidgen made his return to TV on last night’s episode of The Voice Australia. And, as expected, he didn’t disappoint. The 22-year-old singer not only wowed the crowd with his incredible rendition of Adele’s hit tune, ‘Hello’, but turned all four of the coaches’ chairs.
“Do you normally get this reaction when you do perform?” Boy George asked Jack. “George he’s like very well known here,” fellow judge Guy Sebastian said. “I’m just shocked to see you like on stage, I’m so glad to see you and your voice — my gosh.”

While the judges desperately fought to have Jack on their team, you only need to scroll through Twitter to notice that the reaction to his audition is mixed. While some said his performance was outstanding and praised the former star for returning to the small screen, others questioned whether he deserved a second chance considering he’s already won a talent competition.
“I don’t think he should have been allowed on The Voice. I know it’s been YEARS since he sang and he was young, but if you remember he WON AGT. It’s not like he came 2nd or 3rd. He took home the PRIZE,” one user wrote, with another responding, “Yeah! like this is another level of unfair to artists that have potential on the show but he’s already taken the spotlight.”
“It’s actually unfair that they let him onto the show since he’s already won a talent show,” another person Tweeted.
