If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll know exactly how Voldemort ended up dying in Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Basically, his skin peeled the heck off and flew away.

But that’s not always how it was going to go down.
In an interview with Huffington Post, Moving Picture Company VFX supervisor Greg Butler revealed that the effects were nearly so different.
“I remember the moment of the weeks [after] trying to nail down what would really happen because we knew it was important,” Greg said. “It was important to us, but we knew it was going to be even more important to people who read the books.”
When Nagini died, it was then that Voldemort could be gone for good, so in that scene they added both Ralph Fiennes and Tom Riddle’s face into the smoke.
“You’d get the feeling that there are lots of dead Voldemort souls in there or something,” Greg said.
But when it came to his actual death, instead of his skin peeling away, he was going to turn into a blackened tree, then floating away into the breeze.
“Somebody brought up the idea, ‘I like him there in the middle of this whole thing, but can something be rising up off of him?’ We started doing little black particles coming up off of him as if that’s the dark energy, his evilness is drifting off of him like some kind of gritty smoke.”
How odd.
