Ever wondered what happened to Elsa and Anna’s parents, King Agnarr and Queen Iduna, in Frozen?
WATCH: This Frozen 2 deleted scene shows what happened to Elsa and Anna’s parents!
An exclusive interview with the directors of Frozen 2, Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have released a deleted scene that gives more of an insight into their parents.
“Anna was struggling so much in earlier versions [of the movie] with ‘Did my parents really trust me? Why was I shut out?'” Lee says in the video. “She still had questions she needed answers for.”
“We loved this idea that after Ahtohallan, Elsa could give her a memory that would tell her how her parents felt about her,” Lee said.

What is Ahtohallan? It’s the very mystical place Elsa visits in the sequel. It is there where she discovers she is the “fifth spirit” which links normal humans with the ~magical realm~.
There, Elsa also figures out that she can play with water to reveal memories!

In this particular deleted scene, Elsa helps Anna understand their parents by using water.
They see their parents embark on the journey that tragically kills them.
“Darling, I’ve been thinking,” Iduna (voiced by Evan Rachel Wood) tells her husband. “It might be time to tell Anna about Elsa. I can’t bear keeping her shut out anymore. She’s maturing now. She can be responsible.”

“It’s not Anna I’m worried about,” Agnarr (Alfred Molina) says. “What if we let them get close again and the feelings are too much for Elsa? Joy brings her powers out as strongly as fear.”
“But if anyone can find a way to help her, it’s Anna,” Iduna says.
“You may be right about that,” Agnarr says. “There’s not much that girl can’t do.”
“Her love could hold up the world,” Iduna says.
“Lucky for the world,” Agnarr replies. “OK, we’ll tell her when we return.”
“But if anyone can find a way to help her, it’s Anna,” Iduna says.
“But if anyone can find a way to help her, it’s Anna,” Iduna says.

Anna watches with tears running down her face.
“Thank you so much for that,” she says. “They believed in you, Anna,” Elsa says. “And so do I.”
Following Anna through Frozen 2 is following her journey to confidence and breaking away from being so dependant on Elsa. The end of the movie shows Elsa renouncing her crown, making Anna the queen of Arendelle!
