Simultaneously, the streaming service also dropped a teaser trailer that showed our protagonist Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) staring deeply into the camera, reminding us all why we are terrified of him.

Now the terror has gone up a notch after fans were given a first look into season two thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

Our first look into the thrilling new series shows Joe up to his old tricks: lurking behind a beautiful woman. This time, it’s not Beck (Elizabeth Lail), but his new love-interest, ironically named Love (Victoria Pedretti).

The second season will continue to follow Caroline Kepnes’ novels, You and Hidden Bodies, Joe relocates to Los Angeles after everything that went down in New York.

“It’s not that simple love-at-first-sight he might’ve been looking for a couple of years ago,” showrunner Sara Gamble said. “He’s a different guy. He’s been through more.”

Love, being that type of girl who loves to save guys (we all know one) sees Joe’s loss and supposed “kindred spirit,” as Sara puts it. “The circumstances of his encounter with Love are very informed by what he went through with Beck.”

However, Love won’t be the only girl in Joe’s destructive path in season two.

The first season left on the wild cliffhanger that ex-girlfriend, Candace (Ambyr Childers), who we all assumed was dead, WAS ALIVE.

“She is a survivor,” Gamble says. “And now she’s faced with some really difficult decisions about how she’s going to move forward.”

Terrifying.

What else do we know about season 2?

There are a few new cast members!

Disney and Jane the Virgin star Jenna Ortega and Heathers star James Scully have joined the highly anticipated second season.

Jenna will play Ellie, and according to Deadline, Ellie is “a teenager who grew up fast in the big city, [who] likes to act and appear older than her years. Secretly living with minimal supervision or nurturing in her life, she must take care of herself and isn’t afraid to get into murky waters to make a little cash. This includes working cons on the adults around her, including Joe Goldberg.”

As for James, he will be playing Forty Quinn, Love’s brother.

Deadline reports that Forty is as “confident, opinionated and privileged — at his best, a charming buddy; at his worst, a razor-sharp bully. He’s said to be in the midst of completing a 12-step program for drug and alcohol abuse and relies heavily on Love’s support,” however “it never takes much of a shove for him to fall back off the wagon.”
