Beauty and the Beast hasn’t even dropped yet (in Australia, that is) and fans already getting pumped for Disney’s next live-action remake!
As we all know, 2016 was pretty bad (to say the least) but we got a glimmer of hope for the future in October when Aladdin was officially announced as the next big reboot!
Excitement around the live version of one of our FAVE movies is growing super fast and although Disney hasn’t made any casting decisions yet, they have confirmed that Aladdin and Jasmine are Middle Eastern characters. This means that hopefully they’re looking for actors with Middle Eastern heritage.
Of course, Twitter already has their ideas about who should play Prince Ali and it seems that Zayn’s name keeps popping up… A LOT.
If there’s anyone who could pull off that iconic costume, it’s Zayn. And the former One Direction babe belting out ‘A Whole New World’ is what dreams are made of. There’s just one major problem: He isn’t Middle Eastern.
In case you didn’t know, Zayn has Pakistani heritage which actually makes him South Asian, not Middle Eastern. A lot of people get confused becasue Pakistan is adjacent to the Middle East but it’s not actually part of it.
Hell, even his girlfriend Gigi Hadid made the same awkward mistake last year…
But all that confusion aside, what do you guys think about Zayn playing Aladdin??
