Ryan Murphy revealed earlier this month that both Lena Dunham and Emma Roberts would be joining American Horror Story: Cult.

There were mixed reviews from fans, especially with Lena Dunham’s involvement… but now Ryan has revealed their actual roles and it sounds pretty incredible.

Speaking at a press screening followed by a Q&A, Deadline reports that Lena will play Valerie Solanas. She was a radical feminist who shot Andy Warhol in 1968.

She published “Scum Manifesto,” where she called for a “complete automation and eliminate the male sex.”

She will appear in episode 7, titled, “Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag.”

“It’s about female rage and that’s in the country now,” Ryan said. “Solanas wrote the Scum Manifesto. She told all women to kill men, and it was their only way to rise to power.”

Yikes.

As for Emma, she will be a fictional character. TV Line reports that she will play Serina Belinda, a news anchor who unfairly gets a promotion “simply because she’s much more superficial and willing to do what it takes to survive.”

Sounds like Madison Montgomery TBH.

Apparently the show will follow six REAL life cult leaders, one of which is played by Evan Peters. “We really examine how those people rise to power,” Ryan said. “They really are idiots.”
