Dove Cameron has shared an emotional message to all the online trolls, and right now we just want to give her a big hug.
The Descendants star took to Instagram yesterday to share an image of herself looking exhausted alongside a pretty heartbreaking caption.
“It takes nothing,” Dove continued.
“Aren’t you sad? with all the negativity. im overwhelmed by it most days. my heart feels it. i’m sure you do too.”
Firslty, just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t give you the right to straight-up bully them on social media.
Secondly, to all those who are being mean to Dove online you better watch yourself.
Dove went on to explain to a fan that it’s not only about people online who attack her, but the truly awful ‘troll’ culture that allows for such insidious negativity.
“No it’s not just about people who say things to me. it’s just everywhere. it’s unavoidable. and i’m so tired,” Dove replied.
“It’s creating a depressive cloud over the world, our industry and generation. at least, i feel it. do you?”
Yes Dove, we do.
Online bullying, troll accounts and character assassinations online are not just for celebrities, it’s become a Gen Z reality.
We need a better culture online, and we need more people to start spreading love not hate.
