Netflix may be dominating the world right now, but Disney has just stepped in to throw a major spanner in the works. They are officially pulling the plug on all of their Marvel movies that go to Netflix.
Once upon a time, the streaming giant was home to movies like Iron Man to Captain America: Civil War, Thor to Avengers: Infinity War.
Now, Captain Marvel will be the first movie that won’t be coming to Netflix.
In fact, the news comes after Stan made a deal with Disney to play house to all their titles!
Speaking during a conference, Deadline reports that Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the news.
“What we’re basically trying to do here is invest in our future.” The decision is apparently “designed so that long-term this business will become an important part of Disney’s bottom line.”
Cutting ties with Netflix will cost Disney approximately $150 million. Yikes!
Disney and Netflix came together in 2012.
Disney+ is set to premiere in September.
