It has been confirmed that Disney’s Andi Mack will feature its first gay character, 13-year-old Cyrus Goodman (played by Joshua Rush). He will go on a coming-out journey starting on the season two premiere. YAS!
“Andi Mack is a story about ‘tweens’ figuring out who they are,’ said Disney Channel in a statement. “[Creator] Terri Minsky, the cast and everyone involved in the show takes great care in ensuring that it’s appropriate for all audiences and sends a powerful message about inclusion and respect for humanity.”
Cyrus starts realise he has actual feelings for Jonah Beck (Asher Angel) and goes to his friend Buffy Driscoll (Sofia Wylie) for relationship advice. As the show continues, we will see his journey of self-discovery, also including how he will tell his girlfriend.
Joshua Rush has shared a message on his Instagram about the new story he will be playing out.
