But, the boys didn’t claim that title for long, because now that has been overtaken…

The song, by luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee (the original – not the Justin Bieber remix) has a whopping 3,055,151,669 views.
It was released in January of this year, and TIME reports the song has been at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for 12 consecutive weeks! Of course, it was made popular in the U.S. by the Bieber remix, which we can guarantee you’re all still obsessed with.
“Thank you YouTube for ‘Despacito”s success,” Daddy Yankee said in a video message to TIME. “I recognise the influence that the platform has. The music industry has changed. The rules of music have changed. And YouTube has a big responsibility, and I recognise it. Breaking a record is overwhelming, and I’m happy to keep inspiring others to do the same.”
