Considering Daybreak was a smash hit, it may come as a shock to you that Netflix has decided to cancel it after only one season.

The news comes as a bit of surprise considering there was a seriously large amount of hype surrounding season two with the show’s creators revealing back in October that they had already begun planning out plot lines: “We haven’t officially started season two, but we’ve talked about it and I’ve heard [the other producers] say stuff out loud and where I’m like, ‘oh my god, they’re [Netflix] gonna say no. There’s no way,'” series co-creator and executive producer Brad Payton told Seventeen at Comic-Con.
“And they’re like, ‘we love that!’ And I’m like, ‘what the f*ck is happening? Like this is the best place ever!”
However, on December 17 tragedy struck when co-creator Aron Coleite shared that Daybreak won’t be coming back for season two.
Coleite wrote on Twitter: “We learned last week that Daybreak will not be returning for a second season.
“We’re so sorry we couldn’t share it with you sooner but also so grateful that we got to hang out in these last few live tweet sessions with all of you.”
“Thank you for picking up what we put down, for running with it in all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways and for being such an important part of this show and our experience making it.”
Naturally, people are FUMING at the fact that Daybreak was cancelled, especially considering how diverse the show’s cast was.
