The Sun is Also a Star, starring Yara Shahidi and Charles Melton, is probably going to be our new favourite movie. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
WHAT’S THE PLOT?
Yara plays Natasha Kingsley living in New York, an undocumented immigrant from Jamaica who is about to be deported.
She was brought to the United States as a young girl, so the country is all she has ever known. After being threatened deportation, she tries to find a way for her and her family to stay. While doing so, she meets Daniel (Charles Melton) who isn’t happy with his life that centres around trying to please his parents.
The pair decides to spend the entire day together, and of course, fall in love. But they only have a limited time!

Camrus Johnson as Omar:Daniel’s best friend.
Jake Choi as Charles Bae:Daniel’s older brother who got kicked out of Harvard.
Gbenga Akinnagbe as Samuel Kingsley: Natasha’s dad who isn’t really in the picture.
Miriam A. Hyman as Patricia Kingsley: Natasha’s mum.
Cathy Shim as Min Soo Bae: Daniel and Charles’ mum.
IS IT BASED ON A BOOK?
Like most good movies, this one is based off a novel. The original book is written by author Nicola Yoon.
She has spoken about how excited she is for the movie too…
