In July this year, the world was gifted with news they’ve been waiting for… a Gossip Girl reboot was CONFIRMED.
While the show ended with the most disappointing reveal of the century (Dan Humphrey as Gossip Girl? We think the F not!), its legacy has lived on as one of the best teen dramas of all time.
Not making the same mistake twice, series co-creator Josh Schwartz revealed at the 2019 TV Critics Association summer press tour that Gossip Girl will be all of us, figuratively. Not just a Dan Humphrey-like figure.

Speaking with August Man about the reboot, and if he would consider making a guest appearance, he revealed: “If there’s an opening in the future for doing a cameo, I would definitely be open to it.
“The show was a big part of my life and was really special. I loved everyone on it, from the cast to the crew. We were a real family.”
He continued, “I was in my early 20s, so it was like an elongated, pumped-up ‘college’ experience with New York City as our oyster. It was a really fun time.”
However, Chase wants to make sure people know he has grown up a lot since playing Nate.
“I feel like I’ve changed a lot,” he said. “Men are late bloomers; I got to know myself better after turning 30. After the show ended, it took a while to process what happened and what we all went through.”
Crawford added, “Being in the public eye with that show will definitely make you do some self-examination.”
Josh Schwartz will return to the show with co-creator Stephanie Savage to produce the HBO series, and added that isn’t sure whether it is a “reboot” or “remake,” as the story will take place in the exact same universe as the OG Gossip Girl, but it will be eight years later… perfect for our now grown-up Chase!
Now that we know he is on board, what about our Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick)???
According to Josh, it’s likely they’ll all come back.
“We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening and we’d love for them to be involved if they want to be involved, but certainly didn’t want to make it contingent upon [them being involved],” he explained, reports to Entertainment Tonight.
“They played these characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we want to respect that, but obviously…it would be great to see them again.
Penn Badgley, however, is currently filming season two of Netflix’s AMAZING new show, You, which has a release date BTW!!!
What a time to be alive. Thank GOD for those streaming service subscriptions.
