Last week, Cardi B and Megan The Stallion dropped the music video to “WAP.” It’s a fun and raunchy video full of gorgeous outfits, incredible set design and iconic cameos, but fans aren’t too happy about one person’s appearance: model and beauty mogul Kylie Jenner.
As some fans argue, Kylie has no place in the “WAP” music video, especially when it serves as a celebration of black female excellence.
“Not Kylie Jenner the cent[re] of attention in a Cardi B music video starring all that black female excellence,” tweeted one fan. “Got my sis Normani dancing in a box.”
In fact, there’s even a Change.org petition to remove the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star from the music video. As of writing, the petition has over 66,000 signatures and counting.
So, in a series of now deleted tweets, according to TooFab, Cardi B defended Kylie and her decision to include her in her video, admitting, “[this] is not about f**kin[‘] race.”
“Why did I put Kylie [in] my music video? She treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid[‘s] b[‘]day party,” she wrote. “Travis and Set are real close and Kris Jenner has given me advice on certain things I ask for and her husband [is] really cool with mine.”
“Not everything is about race,” Cardi B continued. “There’s issues out here in the world that it is about race that I preach all the time about. [This] is not about f–kin race.”
Kylie Jenner has yet to publicly address the backlash towards her “WAP” cameo.
