Firstly, Billie Eilish is a music legend and a Gen Z queen with a lot of musical knowledge under her belt, so we think she should be forgiven for not knowing who Van Halen is.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Billie was quizzed on her knowledge from the ’80s, and she didn’t exactly pass with flying colours.

In Billie’s defence, she was born a full two decades later, but hey, semantics are we right?

For one of his fun segments, Jimmy Kimmel wanted to quiz 17-year-old Billie on her pop culture knowledge from 1984, the year that Jimmy was 17.

The first question was whether Billie had heard of the legendary Madonna – which of course Billie had – but then the questions got trickier.

Billie revealed that not only does she not know who rap group Run DMC  is, but she’s never seen the classic ’80s movie Ghostbusters

But it was Billie’s revelation that she doesn’t know who rock band Van Halen is that had Twitter fuming.

Just a quick aside, Van Halen was pretty huge in the late seventies and early eighties with hits such as Jump and Hot For Teacher, but they haven’t had a hit in legit DECADES.

Still, all the Boomers on Twitter decided to drag Billie for her lack of Van Halen knowledge.

Of course, many of Billie’s fan came out to defend her.

Just as an FYI, Jimmy Kimmel made it really clear that Billie not knowing every pop culture detail from 1984 was completely OK.

When Billie said she felt ‘dumb’ for not knowing a couple of the answers to his questions, Jimmy said: “It’s not a matter of being dumb. If you asked me questions about 1943 I probably wouldn’t know the answers either.”

Ok Boomers, you can go away now.
