Leave it to Ariana Grande to change the break up game!
Instead of being bitter and angry, which she would have every right to, Ariana has taken the positives from her past relationships and turned them into a hit song.
Instead of dragging or slamming any of the men she’s shared her life with, she’s thanked them for what they have taught her.
Some of the lyrics go:
“Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete I’m so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm / Cause he was an angel.”
In order, they reference Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson and of course Mac Miller, who passed.
“One taught me love / One taught me patience / And one taught me pain / Now I’m so amazing.”
The title of the song, “thank u, next” actually came from a savage tweet she sent to Pete, after he made their called-off engagement a joke on Saturday Night Live.
When pretended to propose to a guest, she declines, and he says to the camera, “0 for three.”
After the clip came out, Ariana took to Twitter.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” she wrote in a tweet, adding in another, “thank u, next.”
QUEEN.
