Instead of being bitter and angry, which she would have every right to, Ariana has taken the positives from her past relationships and turned them into a hit song.

Instead of dragging or slamming any of the men she’s shared her life with, she’s thanked them for what they have taught her.

Some of the lyrics go:

Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete I’m so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm / Cause he was an angel.”

In order, they reference Big SeanRicky AlvarezPete Davidson and of course Mac Miller, who passed.

“One taught me love / One taught me patience / And one taught me pain / Now I’m so amazing.”

The title of the song, “thank u, next” actually came from a savage tweet she sent to Pete, after he made their called-off engagement a joke on Saturday Night Live.

When pretended to propose to a guest, she declines, and he says to the camera, “0 for three.”

After the clip came out, Ariana took to Twitter
