While our wait for the album will continue for a little while longer, it seems the dam is breaking open on BLACKPINK releases. Thank goodness too, because this long-suffering fandom deserves a treat. The latest update we have to celebrate is that not only are they collaborating on a new song with singer Selena Gomez, but that another pop legend has left her mark on the track. We are, of course, talking about Ariana Grande.
The news was confirmed by producer Tommy Brown, who shared the art for the upcoming song, “Ice Cream” to his Instagram. “Produced and written by me and some of my awesome friends,” he captioned the post as well as tagging Grande, Victoria Monet and others.
Grande reshared his post to her stories, writing, “Proud of the squad and so excited for this! So much love for this team and these ladies!” While she hasn’t laid down any vocals on the track, we are very intrigued to see if we can pick up Grande’s songwriting in the new BLACKPINK x Selena Gomez song.
Earlier this year it was confirmed the juggernaut K-pop girl group would be appearing on Lady Gaga’s Chromatica and making their official comeback in June. Their upcoming LP will be called The Album, and is going to drop on the 2nd of October.
Thankfully, “Ice Cream” is coming a little sooner on August 28th, not long to wait now! If you need us we’ll be rewatching this very cute FaceTime call between the gals.
