Since the heart-wrenching finale of 13 Reasons Why season one, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the return of the most talked about series of 2017.
Production of the second season was halted due to the devastating wildfires in Northern California as the popular Netflix series films in the nearby city of Vallejo.
But a recent Instagram post by series producer Selena Gomez confirmed that the follow-up season is well on its way.
Here’s everything we know about the highly anticipated next chapter of your fave series…
WHEN WILL SEASON TWO BE UNLEASHED ON THE WORLD?
There’s no set date at the mo unforch but we do know for sure that it will air in 2018 (which is only a matter of days, mind you).
Sel’s caption for the wrap party pic revealed that season two is “coming”, hopefully sooner rather than later.
“And this year wraps up with another committed journey with @13reasonswhy -Season 2 is coming,” she wrote.
“To every person on this project, thank you for coming back. Good or bad we are committed to having the tough conversations, to telling the story that can start change.”
We do know that it will once again have 13, hour-long episodes to follow in the same format as season one.
WHAT IS THE PLOT LINE OF SEASON TWO?
Netflix’s official description states that season two “picks up in the aftermath of Hannah Baker’s death and the start of the characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery.”
“I think Season 2 will see us look at a lot of the events that we think we know how they went down and maybe learn they’re more complicated than first we thought, and that Hannah herself is even more complicated than we saw in Season 1,” showrunner Brian Yorkey said during a Netflix panel.
“For those that Hannah left behind, that story is just beginning. The story of their recovery is just beginning. Clay and Olivia Baker are two of the people who have the most healing to do and that process was just in its very, very first stages when Season 1 ended. Season 2 is also about healing and about how we go on, because people always say that you have to go on, but how do we after something like that?”
So basically it shows how all the characters deal with the crazy events of the first season. Sounds heavy, doesn’t it?
WILL HANNAH BAKER MAKE AN APPEARANCE?
She haunted the characters with her infamous tapes in season one but now that all of her tapes have been welcomed, will Hannah appear in future eps?
Good news Katherine Langford fans, your girl will 3000% feature in the next season!
“One of the things that is a fundamental element of our show is the weaving of past and the present. Hannah’s story is still very much not finished. She’s an integral part of whatever the next chapter of the story is, and she’s very much still at the center of it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Katherine herself is V. keen to reprise her role for which she has scored a Golden Globe nomination.
“We’re going to see Hannah in flashbacks. We’re going to see parts of Hannah’s life that we didn’t in Season 1. We haven’t really gone into that much detail but I know that we’re going to continue that dialogue and keep developing the story,” Katherine said to Mashable.
“I knew that Netflix and the creators would only come back for a Season 2 if it was going to add to the story. So when I found out I was coming back and I get to be a part of it, I was just even more excited. I would love to see the quieter moments in Hannah’s life that we didn’t get to see covered in Season 1. It would be really interesting to see some of those missing pieces.”
WHO ARE ALL THE NEW PEEPS IN TOWN?
Variety have reported that a lotta fresh faces will be joining the series.
Here’s our comprehensive look at the newcomers!
WILL SELENA GOMEZ ~FINALLY~ STAR IN THE SERIES?
There have been loads of rumours that queen Selena will appear in the next season but we regret to inform you that this is false (as far as we know!).
Amy Hargreaves (who plays Clay’s mumma) said it best with the following statement:
“It would become so much more about Selena Gomez and not about the story. It would kinda distract from the main story. So I can’t imagine that she would pop up for a cameo, but who knows? You never know,” Amy said to ABC News.
Sel is V. busy rn with her other acting commitments (like her controversial role in a Woody Allen Flick) as well as her upcoming album. The singer recently took to Instagram to announce that she has been clocking loads of studio dates to wrap up her album, so we doubt she would’ve have time to film eps of 13RW.
But never say never…
