Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that 13 Reasons Why is popular af.
So much so, that despite parents, teachers and organisations trying to shut the show down, we’re pretty sure a third season is already in the works.
While Netflix has yet to officially confirm the news, here are some reasons why we believe it’s totally happening…
Producers have booked a filming location.
If this isn’t the biggest hint, we don’t know what is.
According to Sonoma West Times, the school which was used in the first two series has already been booked as a filming location for the show’s third season.
“The West Sonoma County Union High School District board on April 11 approved a third licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures that allows the company to film scenes at the Sebastopol High School,” the publication reported.
Production dates have already been set.
The same publication has again reported that dates have been set for filming. “Production would take place later than previous years, starting in mid-June and ending by mid-December,” they reported.
Brian Yorkey himself (the show creator) has revealed there’s more to the story.
Whatever he says goes, and just seeing the end of season 2 shows us there’s more story to be told anyway.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian said, “I always think there’s more story to tell, but I think that depends on viewers and everyone’s reaction to it and whether it’s important to keep telling the story.”
He continued, “If there is a future for the show, to me, it’s about these characters, and not necessarily a new set of reasons or a new set of tapes. “
Bye Bye Hannah Baker.
If a third season happens, we’re sure there won’t be anymore Hannah involved.
In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brian explained, “If the story does continue, and certainly there is lots more to know a lot about these characters, then the spotlight focus on Hannah Baker is probably done.” He explained that he doesn’t see “a tremendous presence for Hannah” going forward. Season 3 will most-likely focus on the assault against Tyler, and how he nearly went through with a school shooting.
