Ross Butler leaving Riverdale has divided the Internet—the Riverdale fandom is obviously gutted about someone else playing Reggie Mantle but over in 13 Reasons Why land (where Ross plays Zack Dempsey), fans took it as a glimmer of hope for a second season.
Now, Cole Sprouse has chimed in and he's ~kinda~ confirmed that we'll be seeing more of Zack in the future!
"[Ross is] a really talented actor that was being tugged between two shows at the same time," Cole dished to CBR.
"The truth was we didn't get the priority of the actor at that time. We talk about Reggie, everyone talks about Reggie, and we all very much want Reggie to be one of the fundamental characters that he deserves to be according to the digests."
In case you didn't know, Reggie is one of the most prominent characters in the comic, which wasn't reflected in Riverdale's first season.
So if Reggie is about to get more screen time, why would Ross leave Riverdale? As Cole pointed out, he was "being tugged between two shows" and let's be honest, the other show would have to be pretty freaking amazing to leave Riverdale aka one of THE biggest series rn.
The only explanation is that Ross left to film season two of 13 Reasons Why. It's totally happening guys, we just need Netflix to confirm it!
