There has been a lot of tension between Camila Cabello and the girls of Fifth Harmony ever since she left the band in 2016.
The girls have constantly said that they were blindsided by Camila when she decided to quit, however Camila admits that they all knew how she was feeling for a long time.
Camila had always wanted to pursue solo music, and eventually it was the deciding factor to quit the band, and she is now finally confirming that.
In a new interview with New York Times, Camila opened up about how her 2015 solo single with Shawn Mendes, "I Know What You Did Last Summer," was the start of it all.
The project actually caused tension in the group, especially when asked to help write lyrics for the girls after that. She says she was constantly told no. She explains how when she told the group she wanted to stay with them while also writing a solo album, they shut her out.
“I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free,” she said. “I just wanted to do that and it did not work.
“It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time,” she said.
