This festive season the Sherlock actor will be playing the unbearably cynical Grinch as he plots to ruin Christmas for the village of Whoville.
Cumberbatch will be lending his voice to the latest re-telling of The Grinch as it is an animation, unlike its live-action predecessor The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey in 2000.
Cumberbatch said that being cast as the infamous Christmas villain was a surprise, "I think it's such an iconic American role, and something I was surprised to be asked to do, and that's a good thing in an actor's life when you're surprised by an offer."
