It doesn't make it okay though, and it still definitely gets to her.
Her new Freeform show Famous In Love has just aired, so Bella sat down with Seventeen.com to talk about her new role as Paige Townsen - a normal girl who falls into fame - and of course her famous life IRL.
"They [viewers] will like Paige and she did sleep with three guys in the series. She literally falls in love with more than 3 people and I'm just seen out with a guy and all the sudden I'm some wh*re.
"Are you kidding me right now? Like how are you even saying those words on social media? You're such a mean person. That is so terrible." She said.
It's true, that whenever Bella is spotted with a new guy (whether it be Charlie Puth, Nat Wolff or even a convo between her and Zedd on Twitter), fans instantly call her out for being a "slut."
As for what she thinks the biggest difference is between herself and Paige? Style.
"Paige - you like her because she's got the nice red, sweet hair and looks like a sweetheart and that's just not fair. Because of the way I look, you have to think of me in some sort of way? Don't judge a book by its cover."
Bella has recently changed up her look in a major way, ditching her red locks for dark brown and turquoise and opting for a grungier style.
Bella continued, talking about her use of social media.
"Social media is so beautiful in that you get to share your thoughts with everyone. But of course, it's a numbers game for every great person you're going to have somebody that's not so great who is willing to spread hate, that's insecure.
"It sucks, but there have been some times when I was getting so trashed that, yeah, it sucks scrolling through my twitter feed. I almost put a snake emoji in my Instagram bio because everyone was spamming me saying I was a snake."
Ah, the elusive snake emoji...
But not even that snake and multiple haters can change her. "I think that everybody knows my secret life is very public. I don't think that's ever in question. I'm just the kind of person that if I actually like somebody, I'll post a photo. Even if we're just friends and like hanging out and I'm just Snapchatting my life and they happen to be in it, then it's like whatever."
Thinking about it, if we were rumoured to be dating every guy friend we were spotted with, and then proceeded to be shamed for it, we wouldn't want to leave the damn house.
Let her live.
As for Famous In Love, it's absolutely amazing and we 3,000% encourage watching it ASAP!
