The TikTok-approved makeup and skincare products to try right now

From cult brow products to the affordable skincare that's going viral.

Among the many things we turn to TikTok forHarry Styles memes and sabotaging Trump rallies being key draws—the wealth of beauty content is one of our eternal favourites. Whether it’s incredibly creative makeup looks or teen boys reviving perms, TikTok is perhaps the internet’s most fertile ground for discovering new beauty trends, hacks and of course, product recommendations.

Where makeup and skincare recommendations on Instagram are often cleaned up, curated and #sponsored, TikTok is the wild west. Nowhere else will you find someone perfectly transforming themselves into Hades from Hercules alongside the most accurate and deadpan ‘what your favourite makeup brand says about you’ video we’ve ever seen.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of the TikTok-approved makeup and skincare products that are piquing our curiosity.

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel

TikTok makeup skincare products

Anastasia Beverly Hills is by no means a new player in the world of makeup, but what we are seeing a lot on TikTok is a shift away from the painted-on Dipbrow look that used to dominate the makeup world a few years back. The brows below show off a much more modern, soft-but-still-defined look you can get with the soap brow technique and a careful application of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel.

2. Frank Body Rose Gold Shimmer Scrub

TikTok makeup skincare products

Sometimes, after four going on five months of lockdown, it takes a 20-second TikTok video to remind you that exfoliating your body is a thing that exists. Add on shaving your legs (ideally with a zero-waste razor) at the end for ultimate slippery smoothness. If you’re looking for a bit of mood boost while you’re at it, this glowy body scrub from Frank Body is TikTok and Rowi Singh approved.

3. Morphe 2 Jelly Eye Shimmer

TikTok makeup skincare products

Morphe 2, the freshly launched makeup line from TikTok’s most popular sisters Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, has unsurprisingly been embraced by the TikTok community. The line is for the most part light, multipurpose makeup (for an *even younger* Glossier-type girl perhaps?) and we’re particularly intrigued by the Jelly Eye Shimmers. Maybe it’s the ‘Jelly’ in the name or how easy it looks to swipe on in the below video.

4. Lanolips Lip Water in Watermelon

TikTok makeup skincare products

Between the Harry Styles ‘Watermelon Sugar’ backing track and how juicy this new hydrating lip product from Lanolips looks, we are suddenly craving a fruit salad. If you’re looking for a moisturising balm/gloss hybrid that feels slippy and not sticky, this one is TikTok approved.

Lanolips Lip Water Watermelon, $23 from Sephora.

5. Gentle Gel Cleansers

TikTok makeup skincare products

Alright, so this is less a single product recommendation as it is a general trend we’re seeing a lot on TikTok. While the cleansers people are sending viral are a bunch of Cerave ones, the brand is a little harder to find in Australia. If you’re looking for cleansers that are gentle, contain moisturising and gently exfoliating ingredients, and won’t strip your skin, these are a couple of our faves.

The Peppy Co Gentle Cleanser is a face gel wash that gently removes light makeup (go for a Face Halo to get the heavy-duty stuff off first) and dirt, leaving your skin refreshed but not stripped or dry.

In a very similar vein is this Gel Cleanser from Bohemian Skin. It includes a couple of gently exfoliating ingredients, like lactic acid, to help reduce breakouts—like the TikTok beloved Cerave Smoothing Cleanser but with a natural ingredient list and, uh, actually available in Australia.

Gel Cleanser, $32 from Bohemian Skin.
