Shay Mitchell’s 10-minute makeup routine is ideal summer makeup

Every product she uses and all her helpful tips.

Amongst the many celebrities who do their own makeup, Shay Mitchell might be our fave. The former Pretty Little Liars and You actress just debuted a new video series on her Instagram and first up we’ve got a sweet ‘Get Ready With Me’ video of her average daily makeup. It features the signature glowy, bronzy vibes we’ve come to expect from Mitchell and is an ideal look for the upcoming season. Especially since it’d take you a max of ten-minutes but offers a tiny bit more oomph than just blush, brows and lip balm

The video begins with Mitchell introducing her new low-fi series, which will be filmed in her apartment, and what she’s already applied on her skin. “I have on some sunscreen and eye cream, and I used a lip exfoliator, too,” Mitchell says. “I’ve ‘set the base,’ as I call it.”

Then, she jumps right into the makeup. Mitchell explains that on a day to day basis she’ll skip the foundation and just use concealer and contour because it’s quicker. Using the Beautyblender’s Bounce Airbrush Liquid Whip Concealer, she applies a little around her nose, under her eyes and on her chin before blending it out with a damp Beautyblender.

Next, she uses an It Cosmetics Brush and takes her favourite contour, the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Palette, around the edges of her face. She also takes a little contour around her nose and eyes to help make everything look seamless.

After contouring, she moves onto cream blush, swiping the product over the tops of her cheeks, nose and forehead. Mitchell’s use of cream products over a well-prepped and moisturised base definitely helps everything blend together easily, and it’s a route we’d recommend trialling yourself for increasingly sweaty summer days.

After that she uses the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, applying it over her contour to add a bit more definition, as well as on her eyelids and lower lashline. Then she sets her concealer, tapping a little bit of the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder under her eyes to avoid creasing.

Mitchell then moves on to her brows and drops a super-smart trick for those who might be toying with the idea of brow lamination. She uses Kelly Baker’s Brow Defining Pencil (you can peep our favourite brow pens and brow pencils here) to fill in any sparse areas. “I’m honestly not trying to make them look like twins—just related,” she jokes.

To get the brow lamination effect without the commitment, Mitchell uses some setting spray on a spoolie to brush through and set her brows in place. “It really gives a laminated effect without actually lamenting them,” she shares.

For her eyes, Mitchell keeps it pretty simple. After giving them a quick curl, she uses Buxom’s Lash Volumising Mascara. For her lips, Mitchell uses the sold-out Kylie Cosmetics Kendall Sister Sister Lip Liner followed by Buxom’s Full-On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss in ‘Hot Totty.’

Throughout the video, Mitchell jokes that her makeup artists friends need not come for her, and that the video is purely just *her* way of applying her everyday, relaxed makeup. Tbh, we still learnt a couple of things so we’re into it! You can watch it in full below.
