In addition to blessing us with baben’ boys, #goals girls and incred storylines, Riverdale has served some epic beauty looks all thanks to the gorg Lili Reinhart (the IRL Betty) and Camila Mendes (the IRL Veronica).
But we also have the show’s head of makeup Erin Mackenzie to thank, not only for all the stunning lewks that she plans for the girls, but also for spilling the show’s beauty secrets with Refinery 29 for us pervy fans.
She revealed that it requires “constantly playing with the makeup intensity and color of the actors’ makeup to put all the looks together.”
While each character has their own “overarching theme” to their look, the prods that they use changes up with “every episode”.
In season 2, the makeup looks are more refined with “less gloss, more realness.”
During the first half of the season, Veronica wore Glossier Generation G lip color in JAM, which Mackenzie says is a “new favorite.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl’s (Madelaine Petsch) classic red lip is courtesy of Lime Crime’s Red Velvet Matte.
This lewk is perf for those flirty party vibes when you want your lips to look super kissable.
Ya know, in case any Archie or Jughead-looking guys are giving you eyes on the D-floor.
Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. How the heck does Lili Reinhart get her fresh ~gLoW~?
Mackenzie opts for Guerlain L’Or and Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer for “added radiance.”
All of the gals also get a layer of primer with Amarte’s Aqua Veil Pure Hydration Serum to help them look fire despite the dark backdrop of the show.
During long filming days, the actors are given “pure rose water spritz” to “freshen skin” along with a touch up of Make Up For Ever’s Mattifying Primer.
And for scenes that require lotsa tears, Mackenzie uses Clarins Double Fix Mascara waterproof topcoat.
Now go forth and slay with some Riverdale beauty realness!
