YouTuber, Lele Pons posted a photo recently, announcing that “for the first time ever I cut my hair,” adding that she “donated” the hair to charity.
Good for her, except… the internet did its thing.

As you can see, she’s holding up hair extensions.

Not only are they extensions, but fans also pointed out that you can’t donate hair if it has been bleached.

Care to explain how you chopped off your "hair" and "donated" it @lelepons?? Last time I checked you can't donate extensions. pic.twitter.com/mUvckfllDa

Since the backlash, Lele has had to address the issue on Twitter.

She has also admitted that the hair in the photo is indeed extensions, but they were only used for the ~photo~.
Her real ponytail in the pic below was being packaged for donation, so she used extensions for the insta.

She spoke to Seventeen.com, saying, “The locks of hair in the Instagram photo was used as reference to show how many inches I cut,” she explained.
“At the time of the photo, my real hair was being collected to make a ponytail because I had intended on donating it.”
She then found out she couldn’t donate her hair, and that’s why she took the photo down.
Now, she’s “discussing potential opportunities with a local hospital.”
