James Charles has opened up about the first season of his YouTube makeup reality TV competition show Instant Influencer, admitting that it wasn’t as good as he wanted it to be.
In a recent video, the 21-year-old beauty mogul addressed how he felt about the show and what he wanted to accomplish.
“The show was amazing, we’re so proud of it, it was so entertaining,” Charles said. “It obviously was such a positive thing for the community, for the artists involved and all for us.”
Then, the Morphe makeup collaborator said that while it has been “[my] favourite thing that I’ve ever done in my life, in comparison to what we wanted to do for season one, the show was awful…”
“Basically, we had so many hopes and dreams for what we wanted the show to be for season one, but because it was a season one, we weren’t able to make a lot of those things happen,” he explained. “If you guys thought the show was good, it would have been 18 billion times better, had we been able to actually make those things happen.”
What those “things” are is hard to say, but Charles added that we can expect to see them in season two, which was officially announced a day after the video was released.
“We just weren’t able to make it happen because of season one, budgets, there’s a lot of things involved in making a show.”
Instant Influencer premiered in April this year. The show follows a group of young aspiring influencers as they compete in a series of makeup challenges. Some of the guest stars on the show include Paris Hilton, Trixie Mattel, Nikita Dragun and Bretman Rock.
