Just last week, Jeffree Star’s former hairstylist, Daved Anthony Munoz, exposed text messages he had once received from the beauty guru.
In them, Jeffree was seriously racist, especially to fellow beauty influencer Jackie Aina, who he refers to as a “gorilla”.
People were obviously outraged with Jeffree, even though he has somewhat denied Daved’s claims.
Jackie on the other hand usually avoids talking about Jeffree, but she couldn’t ignore the latest comments he had made.
“I have not and will not excuse [Jeffree’s] blatantly racist behavior,” she wrote. “No one in the community should feel they are protected enough to continuously say things to make black women feel ugly and ashamed in their own skin.
“If there’s going to be a standard, let’s raise it for everyone,” she wrote. “Let’s stop making excuses for people just because we like the way they blend eyeshadow.”
She also stated that she wouldn’t be addressing the issue again.
“I hope moving forward, we can do better and focus on making room for those with responsible voices and positive platforms,” she wrote.
We couldn’t agree more.
