It seems like every day there is a new cosmetics company under fire for not being inclusive enough with their colour range… and the latest is IT Cosmetics.

Unfortunately for the brand, their new Bye Bye Foundation Full Coverage Moisturizer has upset customers, as they claim the colour range isn’t diverse enough, despite the brand spending two years creating them.

There are 12 colours in total, and nine of those shades are made for white skin tones. Only three are offered to people with a darker complexion.

Yes. The internet lost it.

After the backlash, the brand released a statement to Seventeen.com, explaining how difficult it is to make darker shades because of the 50+ SPF formula.

“Typically SPF moisturisers with physical-only sunscreens have only been possible in a few shades — and at IT Cosmetics we’ve spent the past 2 years creating 12 skin-tone adapting shades for this moisturiser (3 Light, 3 Medium, 3 Tan and 3 Rich). And we continue to work hard to challenge this further.”

A rep also revealed that the product is, “a full coverage moisturiser and due to the physical-only SPF in the product, we’re not able to go darker than our deepest shade.”

However, they did say that the colour range was their “top priority”.
