The year has barely begun but there’s a hair trend upon us already. And it is that of the braid.
Hollywood A-Listers are rocking this hair style on and off the red carpet. They’re sporting braids in all styles, shapes and sizes including the ultra-long plait, the box braid and even, the braided bun (hello Jennifer Lopez).
The terrific thing is that all of these styles are extravagantly beautiful in their own way and better still, look heavenly on pretty much everyone – famous and regular folk alike.
Actor and singer Lea Michele is just one of many famous faces who are partial to this look.
She recently posted an image of herself to her Instagram account in which she looked stunning, her dark locks woven into a perfect Dutch braid updo. Her gal pals Sarah Potempa (who just happens to be a celebrity hair stylist) and Sarah’s sister Emily Potempa were also in the image – both wearing gorgeous double braid styles.
The trio looked ready for a workout or a visit to a wine bar which is another reason why this style is so popular right now.
It’s perfect for pretty much any activity and in any location. #Winning!
Kendall Jenner has long been a fan of the braid. She’s partial to the Dutch version (just like Lea Michele) and the single side braid, especially the fish tail version which she has worn on the red carpet at many events.
Kendall likes to wear a double braid when she’s attending sporting events such as the basketball. Can’t blame her – she looks super cute and like she could take to the court and make a few slam dunks at any moment.
Jennifer Lopez is style personified.
She’s bold with her beauty looks and her hair styles too and she’s very keen on the braid in all its incantations.
She occasionally wears a super long single braid which falls well past her waist and occasionally, an elaborately-braided bun.
We love this look but let’s face it, it’s J-Lo, we love her in anything.
Fancy giving this sweet look a try yourself? Go for it we say and so does celeb hair stylist Richard Kavanagh.
“Nothing can change your character more than your hair,” he says.
And a cool new look might boost your mood and perhaps your self esteem too. And who knows what that could bring?
“If more women feel great about the way they look and walk through their day confident and full of joy, in part because they know they look good, then the world will be a better place,” says Richard.
