Are you making this mistake with your foundation?

It's the most important makeup product you'll purchase but why is it so hard to get right?

  1. We get stuck.  “I think one of the biggest mistakes I see are women who get stuck in a makeup rut,” says celebrity makeup artist Liz Kelsh. “They are still wearing the same foundation which worked for them in their 20s but they’ve noticed it’s not working anymore. Or they think,  “Oh, I shouldn’t wear as much makeup as I get older” whereas you should actually wear MORE but it’s about being clever with your makeup.”
  1. We forget to update. “As your skin changes, so should your foundation,” says Liz.  Women often tell Liz that their skin  “just sucks up their foundation’.  “Usually it’s not the foundation, it’s more a problem with their skin and they need to up their exfoliation – it’s the fountain of youth!. The skin renewal process slows down as we age so you have to speed that back up again. Get more glow into your skin so it’s soaking up the moisture and the foundation will go back to sitting on top of your skin” .
  1. We don’t pick the right shade. “We match the foundation to our face when it should be to our chest,” explains celebrity makeup artist Jay Rauwenhoff (Sarah Murdoch, Sigrid Thornton, Deborah Mailman, Sophie Faulkner). And if it’s not easy to blend on your skin then it’s the wrong one for you. “
