Raise your hand if you've ever experienced #FOMO, jealousy or crippling insecurity while scrolling through your Instagram feed...
Well, you're not the only one.
The app has become that place you go to post photos of your best self.
It's no surprise that most photos on there are highly edited and highly manipulated, but it's also easy to forget when you're looking straight at it.
When that happens, self-worth is affected.
A new study conducted by The Royal Society for Public Health has found that Instagram is the worst of all social media apps when it comes to your mental health.
The study asked 1,479 people aged 14-24 to score the most popular social media apps on issues, such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, bullying and body image. It found that "social media may be fuelling a mental health crisis."
Yikes.
It did however find that Instagram can have a positive effect on "self-expression and self-identity," but the study also calls out for the app to monitor users who check for likes maybe a little too often.
If you are ever finding yourself a little overwhelmed by social media, take a break!
You don't have to delete your whole account, but simply removing the app off your phone for a short period of time means you won't be tempted to check it every 5 seconds, and it could be very healthy.
