The film clip transported us back in time, and took us on a wild journey, where Sel played numerous characters.
Her teenage self, her mother, her father and her gym teacher... who she happened to be crushing on. Who was a baben' girl.
It was all really cool, and heck, it even featured Taylor Swift! But, did you know it was inspired by an old movie?
The video used the same costume designer as the 90s movie Dazed & Confused, which takes place in the 70s.
"Bad Liar" videos director Jesse Peretz wanted to get the same vibes from Dazed & Confused's costumes, so he got in touch with costume designer Kari Perkins a week before the two-day shoot.
"They treated it like a mini-film – the beautiful sets, the way it was lit, the cinematic quality – but the biggest difference was that it was a lot faster-paced," Perkins revealed to Billboard.
"I have a stock of great true vintage ‘70s, '80s clothing that I’ve collected over the years. I rented some from local costume houses, and we also made some things too, like the basketball team outfits. We created the wolves shirts for the team."
Their aim was to make Selena, "a cool-but-sweet kid that didn’t really fit in.
"For the male figure, that was really fun; especially finding something that would actually fit Selena because she’s so tiny," she said. "We laughed so hard [every time Selena was in the male costume] – she was so into character, too, just nailing it every time. We couldn’t stop laughing."
