Deadline reports that the powers that be at the popular streaming service decided not to renew the series for a second season.
Based on Sophia Amoruso’s best-selling autobiography about starting her own online business, Nasty Gal, Girlboss starred Dylan O'Brien's bae Britt Robertson.
Amoruso has taken to her Instagram story to comment on the shock cancellation, writing:
“So that Netflix series about my life got cancelled. While I’m proud of the work we did, I’m looking forward to controlling my narrative from here on out,” she wrote in a series of lengthy Insta stories.
“It was a good show, and I was privileged to work with incredible talent, but living my life as a caricature was hard even if only for two months. Yes, I can be difficult. No, I’m not a d*ck ... It will be nice to someday tell the story of what’s happened in the last few years,” she added.
Shortly after sharing her story, loads of people started to comment on the apparent "shade" being thrown.
Amoruso responded to these rumours with another lengthy Instagram story.
"Jesus Christ. I absolutely loved the show and am so sad it's over. I am grateful for it all. But how a website can conflate "throwing shade" with saying that a woman is excited to own her narrative after bankruptcy headlines, false lawsuits and a dramatised series is created (which I will repeat: I loved and am proud of) is bonkers. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone. Being me usually means hurting someone at any given time."
She then shared another pic where she wrote: "thank you" and tagged the cast and crew from the show.
Farewell, Girlboss. You will be missed <3.
