Fans are familiar with the map of Westeros, showing locations that will appear in the upcoming episode. One reddit user noticed last week's season seven premiere might reveal the answer to a major plot question, putting to rest a point of contention amongst fans.
How the heck will the White Walkers get through The Wall and enter The Seven Kingdoms?
These two pictures show what some viewers believe to be the crucial clue. The first, taken from an earlier season, clearly shows water to the east of The Wall. The second, from season seven, shows the water frozen solid.
Leading fans to speculate that the White Walkers will simply walk around the wall…
"Imagine the white walkers just freeze the ocean and easily walk around the wall. How anticlimactic would that be. 700 foot tall wall and they just go around," one fan commented.
While another comment read: "Why wouldn't the White Walkers have done this immediately after the wall was erected to keep them out? Weird that they'd wait so long if there's such an easy solution."
Another reddit user pointed out, "The Wall doesn't just prevent the Walkers physically from crossing, the construction and foundations of the Wall are imbued with magic and enchantments."
