In a new interview with Vogue, the singer—who was a very vocal Hilary Clinton supporter—took a swipe at everyone who could use their platforms to make a difference, but chose not to.
"I don't think you have to shout it [your political views] from the rooftops," Katy said. "But I think you have to stand for something, and if you're not standing for anything, you're really just serving yourself, period, end of story."
Ouch! Of course, she didn't actually call her out by name but it sounds like that was totally directed at Katy's longtime frenemy, Taylor Swift. You might remember, Tay was criticised during the U.S. Presidential Election last year after she sat on the fence and only shared a generic "Go out and vote" Instagram post on election day.
And Katy's not here for it.
"'California Gurls' and fluffy stuff would be completely inauthentic to who I am now and what I've learned," Katy continued. "I do believe we need a little escapism, but I think that it can't all be that. If you have a voice you have a responsibility to use it now, more than ever."
