All bodies are beautiful and here at Girlfriend, we do not encourage body shaming or living an unhealthy and unhappy lifestyle in order to achieve a specific physical state.
Whether you want a bigger butt, to tone up or are embracing your curves, as long as it's something you have decided and makes you happy, then we love that for you.
But, even with that said, our bodies do come in different shapes and sizes—including our butts. In fact, according to New York plastic surgeon Matthew Schulman, there's allegedly only five types of butt shapes in the world.
According to Dr. Schulman, your booty shape is determined by three key factors. These include the placement of your hip and pelvis bones, the size of your muscles, and the way those muscles attach to your thigh bone.
This is probably the most common of "booty goals" shape. This is what stars like Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez have.
A square butt is when the line between your hip bone and outer thigh runs perpendicular to the ground. This is most common with athletic or rectangle bodies.
If you've ever considered your buttocks pear-shaped, you most likely have an A-shaped derriere. According to Dr. Schulman, these butts widen below the hip bones.
Dr. Schulman says women who have broad shoulders and slimmer hips (like a triangle) have a V-shaped bottom. To find out whether you have a V-shaped bottom, check to see if the line between your pelvis and hips angles inward.
