The news of the split comes after Zayn denied claims that he "struck" Yolanda Hadid.
The singer released a rare statement on Twitter after being alerted to a TMZ story that was going to drop, which reported that he and Yolanda had been in a physical altercation.
On October 28, TMZ sources reportedly said that Yolanda "says Zayn struck her at some point last week and she's seriously considering filing a police report".
In his Tweet, Zayn did not directly respond to the claims he had "struck" Yolanda, but later added to his comments in a return statement to TMZ.
"As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space my daughter to grow up in," Zayn wrote. "A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.
"In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago."
"This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been 'leaked' to the press," he continued.
"I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."
Later responding to TMZ with an official statement, he said: "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."
A couple of hours later, a rep for Gigi made a brief statement on behalf of the model to E! saying Gigi "is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."
Yolanda has not officially commented on the reports as of time of publishing.
The former couple were originally linked in 2015 after they were spotted leaving Justin Bieber's AMA's after-party holding hands.
They then dated until March 2018 when they confirmed their split via Twitter.
"I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared," Gigi penned to her own account.
"I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend," Zayn added.
The next month, they were spotted back together before more breakup rumours swirled in January 2019. But they were officially reconciled in February 2020 before announcing they were expecting a baby in April.
Then, in September 2020, the new parents welcomed their daughter Khai into the world.
"Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful," Zayn wrote on Twitter. "To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together."
Glowing new mum Gigi also penned her own message: "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love."
Now, despite reports of a breakup, it seems like the dedicated parents are putting Khai above all else.
