Heart-stopping CCTV footage has emerged of a 4-year-old boy falling through the gap between a train and platform at a Sydney station.

The child is seen waiting to board the train alongside his mother at Sydney's Sydenham train station.
The shocking video shows the eager 4-year-old walking towards the train before swiftly falling through the gap and onto the tracks, while his mother watched in horror.
Commuters and staff immediately rushed to the child's aid, urging the guard to stop the train. Thankfully, he was lifted to safety with no injuries.
Speaking to 9NEWS after the incident, transport minister, Andrew Constance, encouraged parents and grandparents to be vigilant, particularly around school holidays.
“One split second lapse in concentration could see the loss of life of a child and we don't want to see that,” he told the network.
New statistics show that close to 200 children were injured on Sydney trains network in the past year, the most common injury being children falling through the gap between the train and platform.
The horrifying footage was released as part of a campaign ahead of school holidays, urging parents to keep a close eye on their children when at the station.
