The relationship ending seemed to have come out of nowhere, but Sam has now opened up about it, and he has nothing but nice words to say of Brandon, regardless of being heartbroken.
Speaking to The Times, Sam explains how the breakup is "still quite raw".
"Brandon was wonderful,"he says. "I’m still trying to figure out what I took from that relationship and what it meant to me. It’s still quite raw."
He confirms that there are no hard feelings between the two, as the break up was mutual.
"All my relationships have ended in a nice way, never nasty," he explains.
While he didn't reveal why they broke up, he did explain how hard it is to date in the public eye.
"My life from the outside can seem glamorous, but the reality is that I am on tour every other year and I’m never home, and it’s public," he says.
But, he acknowledges that "seeing gay relationships [in a public way] is important and refreshing."
"Right now, the thought of getting into a relationship is too much," he admits. "I just want to marry my job, work really hard and hopefully, when I’m not looking for [love], it will come."
Amen.
