While the pair seemed OTT in love during their relationship, they got engaged only after a few weeks of dating, which is always risky.
Not to mention the fact that the public had started turning on Pete, after he began making derogatory and crude jokes about Ariana... like saying he was proud when Bill Clinton eyed her off, defending the bishop who assaulted her during Aretha Franklin's service and joking about switching Ariana's birth control pills.
But the biggest clue of their break up came from Pete himself, only one day before the split.
While filming an episode of Saturday Night Live, Pete talked about the possibility of breaking up with Ariana, and what would happen to her song "Pete Davidson" on her new album Sweetener.
"You know, I don’t even get royalties for that 'Pete Davidson' song? Like, if we break up, and we won’t — we will — but we won’t. I’m kidding. But like in 10 years, if God forbid that ever happened, there will be a song called 'Pete Davidson' playing in speakers at Kmart and I’ll be working there."
Looking back on that now knowing that they've broken up, it DOES seem really bitter.
While the pair has split and their engagement is off, a source has told Us Weekly that they are "working things out."
"They’re not officially done yet," the insider explained.
