2. SET ACHIEVABLE GOALS
We're not fans of the term, “New Years Resolutions,” - forget fads and forget diets. Being fit is a way of life. And we’re more about SMART achievable goals that will serve you in a positive way… all year round! Setting yourself some achievable goals is the key to success and living a healthy and active lifestyle. If you don’t have a goal, or you set yourself one that is completely unrealistic or unachievable, then it will be difficult to maintain enough motivation to see it through.
Want to learn how to do finally nail a crow pose? Want to be able to knock out that PB for your 5KM run? Just write it down, put it somewhere you can see all day, everyday. Hold yourself accountable to something and you’re more likely to achieve it! Think about it… no goals = no feeling of success = no motivation to smash your next workout. You’ve got this!
3. TEAM UP WITH A FRIEND
It’s all about being a #girlboss and the combination of #girlpower these days and behind every successful woman, is a group of equally successful women who have her back. Did someone say squad goals? Taylor Swift, eat your heart out! Working out with your BFF will take you from bonding to blood pumping in no time.
Walk it off with a good chat - lace up your sneakers, hit the pavement and get the body moving with a brisk walk. Maybe you're looking for something a little bit more high intensity? Push your limits and try a workout together - less pep talk, more pep in your step! When there's someone by your side encouraging you to stick it out for that extra 30 seconds, you’re more likely to go a little further and push a little harder each time!
4. NOURISH YOUR BODY… and BRAIN!
Nourishing your body may seem like a no-brainer (pun totally intended). But did you know, fuelling up on a healthy and wholesome food is about so much more than looking babin’ in a bikini? Our brains are made up of 60% fat, which needs to be sustained through our diet. Incorporating good fat into your nourish routine is absolutely critical for optimum brain function, especially during those times when you find your motivation is on a bit of a downward spiral.
Try picking foods high in Omega 3 fatty acids like avocado, nuts, salmon and chia seeds - all of which improve memory and cognition and even enhance your mood. Motivation never tasted so good!
5. REWARD YOURSELF FOR SUCCESS
Just like they used to teach us in school to “give ourselves a pat on the back” after doing something positive, you too should give yourself a reward after achieving one of your goals! You know that new bag you’ve been eyeing off? Go on... treat yourself! You deserve it. Nothing feels better than ticking something off your goals list, feeling a sigh of accomplishment just before going back to point number one.
Now get out there and SLAY!
