Yup, the singer might be busy gearing up for his Illuminate World Tour but he's just landed his first major acting gig in the upcoming musical Summer of Love!
As you may (or may not) remember, Shawn voiced Young Jake in the 2013 movie Underdogs and most recently guest-starred in an episode of The 100 last year, but this is his first live-action film role.
The filmmakers aren't giving away much about the plot yet but the musical's name alone gives us some clues. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summer of Love will probably be set in the summer of 1967, "when over 75,000 young people migrated to San Francisco’s hippie utopia."
That Summer is known for kicking off a huge musical liberation, which came after intense opposition to and protests against the Vietnam War. Rock legends The Who, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin all started out in that era so we have a feeling we're gonna hear ~lots~ of rock music.
So does this mean we're gonna see Shawn act AND sing?! Maybe he'll even play one of those '60s musical icons! Either way, we are SO here for it!
